A Short Trip to The Kauri Coat

As soon as we finished packing last week, we headed the road to the Kauri Coast just for a couple of days. This is a remote yet 'Beautiful' place located on the Northland's West Coast, surrounded by vast forests and stunning large trees. We drove about three hours up to the west coast and visited some interesting places there.

The first stop of our road trip; Kauri trees {these are among the largest and most ancient trees in the world} at the amazing Waipoua Forest. A must 'do' worthy to be visited! Some of the largest kauri trees in this native forest are about 2,000 years old! One of the most ancient Kauri trees in New Zealand or 'Big Tree' as some residents from the area call it- is the Tane Mahuta or Lord of the Forest which is an absolute treasure. Over 50 metres tall and is estimated to be approximately 2,000 years old! It feels pretty amazing standing in front of such magnificent creation, it really is the 'Lord of the Forest' and I can't describe in words the inspiration that occurs simply looking at this tree... it gives a sense of astounding gratefulness and inner peace. Those are the only words that come to mind. It's just breathtaking. There are also beautiful ferns, variety of plants and grass incredibly green that fill the senses with a deep-subtle earthy aroma. Irresistible for those 'of us' who love nature and the outdoors!

But there's much more to kauri Coast than the Waipoua Forest and its largest-majestic trees! Next time we will stay longer and do more exploring!
